Questions

Asked often.

Who can volunteer, how much time it takes, checks, pay, languages and what happens to your details.

Volunteering

Before you apply.

Something else? Write to hello@moraph.org.

Who can apply?

Moraph colleagues, through the volunteer hub, and members of the public with relevant experience: people who have worked in banking, credit unions, accounting, financial counseling or free tax help; nursing, patient navigation, medical billing, pharmacy or social work; local government, clerks’ offices, libraries or civics teaching; and interpreters and translators. If your experience is different but you think it fits a role, apply and tell us.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. Volunteers are 18 or over.

Which countries?

The ten countries where Moraph has an office: United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, United Kingdom, Armenia, India, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. Online roles are open from anywhere in those countries.

How much time does it take?

You tell us what you can give. A series is planned in writing with the host, with its dates, before you are asked to join it, and you can say no to any series. Review roles are done on your own schedule, within an agreed date.

Which languages?

Sessions are taught in the language the host asks for, so tell us every language you could teach or help in. The form is in English for now; you are welcome to write your answers in Spanish or French, or to email hello@moraph.org in either language.

Will I be paid?

No. Volunteering is unpaid. Moraph staff volunteer during working time. If a series would involve costs for you, such as travel, whether and how they are covered is agreed in writing before it starts.

Do you do background checks?

Every volunteer has an identity check and references. For roles with young people or adults at risk, there is also a background check where local law allows, finished before you start. We tell you exactly which checks your role needs before any are done.

What happens to my details?

Your application is handled by Moraph LLC under the Moraph privacy policy, and seen only by the Moraph for Good team. Applications that do not lead to volunteering are deleted 730 days after they are closed. See privacy on this site and data retention.

Can I volunteer if I sell financial products?

Possibly, but declare it on the form. You can’t teach Fluent while you promote or sell financial products, or to people you might sell to; you may be a better fit for another role, such as a reviewer or a session host for Reach or Voice. The same goes for anyone who sells insurance or health plans and Reach. We decide case by case, under the conflict-of-interest policy.

Can I teach Voice if I’m involved in politics?

Not if you are a current candidate, party official or member of campaign staff. Other civic involvement is fine to declare, and you keep every session strictly nonpartisan.

Do I need teaching experience?

No. Instructors need to explain plainly and keep to the materials; the training covers the rest. Session hosts and digital helpers need no subject expertise at all.

I run a library, school or clinic. Can I ask for volunteers?

Yes: apply on moraph.org to host a program. Volunteers are matched to hosts’ series, not offered directly to organizations.

Use what you know, for the people it affects.

One short form. A person from the Moraph for Good team reads every application and replies.
