Moraph for Good / Volunteer / Opportunities / Session host
Opportunity · Open to everyone
Session host.
Co-host Fluent, Reach and Voice sessions: welcome people, look after the room or the online meeting, and help people sign in to the websites a session uses.
What you do
- Welcome people, set up the room or the online meeting, and keep time with the instructor
- Help people find their way into a patient portal, online bank or government website on their own device, when a session uses one
- Hand out the printed materials, and point people to Commons to read them again
- Make sure everyone can take part: seating, hearing, large print, captions online
What you need
- A friendly, organized way with people, and patience with technology
- No subject expertise needed: the instructor teaches, you make the session work
What you won’t do
- Handle anyone’s passwords, codes or personal data, or type them in for someone
- Take names, contact details or photographs of the people who attend
- Answer questions about someone’s own money, health or legal situation (you pass them to the instructor, who explains how things work)
- Where
- In person at the host’s venue, or online alongside the instructor.
- Checks
- An identity check, references, and a background check where local law allows for roles with young people or adults at risk. Checks are finished before your first session.
- Training
- The short training on the rules every volunteer takes, then a briefing from the Moraph lead on how the host’s sessions run.
- Time
- You tell us what you can give. A series is planned in writing with the host, so you know the dates before you agree to it.
- Open to
- Moraph colleagues and vetted members of the public, 18 or over, in the ten countries where Moraph has an office.
The rules apply to every role. Nothing to sell, strictly nonpartisan, explain never advise, no personal details, safeguarding and conflicts. The rules in full.
Apply to be a session host.
One short form. A person from the Moraph for Good team reads every application and replies.
